Yay! I’m so excited to point you to my new blog – it’s updated with lots of changes, some obvious and some behind the scenes. The BEST thing about it is that there are huge-MONG-ous pictures on it. I love showing off my awesome clients, and this new blog will help me do just that.

So hop on over and check it out. And don’t forget to change your bookmarks!

That’s a click for my brain this time and not my shutter, and I’m SOOO excited about it! (Brain function in my world is always a plus, lol.) I’ve been working on a new pricing structure for this year, and a new EASIER way of doing things. Easier for you, easier for me, and simpler all the way around. I’m happy to say that this morning that whole process took a huge leap forward. With flying fingers and a techy brother’s help, the background structure is getting put in place today. Stay tuned! The clouds are clearing and good things are on the way!!

I got to spend some time with my Dad today while he was getting his chemo. To say this has been a journey for him and my mom would be an understatement. I must say it’s been a joy to watch, and to see how many lives they are touching as they travel this road. What a testimony to the fact that if we embrace all that comes our way and view it as a gift from God, the way seems easier, the steps lighter, and even the trials can inexplicably result in peace. And I don’t say that lightly, for I know the burdens some face are heavier than even words can describe.

Here he is, camera around his neck, sharing with the man next to him about photography with a smile and a heart to share what he knows. THIS heart is the reason I shoot the way I do today. Thank you, Dad!

And a few details of his days lately. . .

The squirrel saga has ended for the time being. For those of you who don’t know, about two weeks ago the two happy little squirrels who live in a tree near our house decided that our house looked a lot cozier than their leaf pile. They chewed through the siding, the wood exterior, and then finally broke through to the attic area of our apartment and proceeded to have a romping good time chewing everything above our dining room, kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom. The manager was duly notified, we waited, wondering if the whole wiring system was going to start smoking, Today the expert verminator arrived. He was quite baffled to know how they were getting up to our third story balcony with no trees within jumping range. (Oh yes, we assured him. They can climb drain pipes and they survive the three-story fall as well.)

This afternoon while we were out one was trapped on our patio. Shortly after our arrival home, we heard another lip snapping down and the second one got frightened near to death as well. The children were screaming with laughter at their crazy antics, peanuts flying, cages rattling, teeth chattering. . . . Such fun. I snapped a few pictures just as the manager showed up to “relocate” them.

And then today while we were out, I spotted these guys. They’re on their way somewhere, these geese, most likely returning home.  I love the thought – the shape, the purposeful direction and the hope that lies at the end of the journey. Feeling blessed with home tonight. :)

I’ve found myself fallen outside the groove these past two weeks. I was slam-cram busy right up to the day before Christmas with client orders. This crazy (did I say crazy?!!) weather effected shipping schedules and sent me scrambling more than I would have wished. I’ve learned much that will be implemented for next year’s holiday season, lol. Those of you who ordered – THANK you for your patience!!!

Since then, I think we’ve had more days inside doctor’s offices and hospitals than out.  School starts up again on Monday but vacation was literally a blur. A good happy blur despite the sickies, for there were SO many wonderful moments crammed in between. Christmas was wonderful, but my body is in revolt about the new Wii, heehee. I’m feeling my age and then some.

I’ll be posting more frequently now that things will be back into a somewhat steady routine. A new fun project can be seen in my flickr gallery in the sidebar – a photo a day. I started this last year and got several months along before I petered out. But it’s SUCH fun! I’d love to have some of you (okay ALL of you) join me. Just take one picture every day, that’s it! If you’re like me, go month-by-month rather than trying to wrap your brain around a whole year’s commitment. Even if it’s just something with the camera phone, I can guarantee you’ll love the process and the memories you’re capturing. If you decide to jump on board, link me up to your gallery and I’ll help cheer you on.

One last thing. I’m working through some new ideas for this year’s business, stuff that I think clients will really love and appreciate. Along with that, I’m hoping to have a new blog design up soon to help showcase all you beautiful people even better, because YOU are what it’s all about. How I love that about this job. I have seriously loved this past first year of business, and have treasured the moments you’ve let me share with you all!

Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Here’s a peek at the cards we’re in the process of sending out. . .

I’m not a maternity photographer. Really, I’m not. But when a couple comes along like David and Melissa, I suddenly become one with a smile and a nod. They had this wonderful spot all picked out for me, the morning was clear with the fog just untangling itself from the valleys, so out we headed the day before Thanksgiving with a pocketful of dreams.

Thank you, you two, for letting me into your lives and sharing with me. I pray this next month is amazing for you, and all that you need it to be.

And this last one is just because . . .

I’ve been blessed by little ones this past week! Meet Fynn, one of the sweetest, most alert babies I’ve ever seen, lol. I think he’s afraid to miss out on anything, even at ten days old. Kate and Garret, you two are wonderful parents – I can see that already. What a blessed boy you have!

And one of him finally sleeping. . . ahhhh. SO worth it.

I hope you all got some much needed rest this weekend!

Oh my, what a sweet little bundle I got to play with this weekend! This little fellow was exactly two weeks old, and a charmer through and through. His mommy and daddy are parents for the first time, and I totally loved watching them dote on him and thoroughly love him and loving the fact that they’re parents. There’s a magic there as a family expands for the first time.

Thank you, Caleb and Amanda, for letting me come to your sweet, cozy home and rearrange all your furniture! lol I had a ball.

Have you ever met someone who just oozes coolness? If you haven’t, let me introduce you to Kayla. She’s happy, confident, and totally in love with tacos. (heehee, right girl?) She and I got to spend a little time together a few weekends back, and despite the rain and the gloom we had a ball.

Thanks, Kayla! You rock!

Oh gosh, last weekend. Gorgeous park, fun couple, pouring rain, lol. Yeah, that last part could have stayed away, but still we had a great time. Every now and again you come across a couple who has been married for a time but is still madly in love and acting like newlyweds. I love that in people. I love seeing that look in the eye that they give to just each other. I love hearing the banter and knowing they do it because they’re safe and secure in each other, not because they’re seeking reassurance.

Brent and Jennifer, thanks for the time you gave me. And thanks for being willing to huddle under the reflector in the downpour, too! The leaves were perfect, just as you both were.

And then this last one – what a story!

I’m hoping to have some leaf fight pictures up soon, too! (And see, Brent? I told you I wouldn’t post the one of you gobbling so expertly! Now the leaf-kicking ninja one, on the other hand, just might show up. . . )
