This weekend our family headed out of town for a little fun, and along the route were able to meet up with a friend from ages ago. (Wow, had it really been 12 years?!!) We met wife and kids, invaded the house, and got a few pictures in the process. Thank you so much for your open doors, open bathroom (lol) and gracious spirit. We all had a ball, and appreciated the catch-up time immensely. (Plus, shooting you all was something I never imagined I’d be able to do.)
Here are a few samples of what will be coming, despite my wrong flash settings. *sigh* Sometimes this learning curve just seems to get in the way. . . .

I had the opportunity to photograph a friend’s family this weekend (whose pictures will be coming soon), and in the process was blessed to meet some friends of theirs. (I love how the relationship circles in life can expand like this!) They graciously allowed me to take a few snaps of their daughter, who was so much fun to follow around on the floor and interact with. Her faces and conversation, at 17 months, will be remembered for quite some time! So thank you, new friends, for the opportunity! It was a delight.

Yesterday the family headed out to McMennamins to capture our own homeschool portraits. I had it in my mind’s eye to take them in the little apple orchard there, but there was a wedding in progress right next to it, so we opted for an open field instead. It’s a good thing we brought our own apples, lol! We were able to enjoy the scenery, gather a little atmosphere, take in all the glorious smells from the many restaurants, and watch some glass blowing, too! I think the kids would have stayed there all evening, given the chance, for it was indeed fascinating.
My kids are hams, and by this point in their little lives they know to just be themselves when a camera is pointed their way. We had a ball, and they thought it was cool that they got to eat some of the props when we were done.

And here are just a few of the ones that got rather silly.
But I love the personality they show.

And here is my middle child’s real opinion of school at this point in his life . . . .

I am a homeschooling mom, and with the start of school looming in the immediate future I got to thinking about school portraits. We have never had the typical “official school portraits” like most students get at the beginning of the school year because the cost has always been prohibitive. I understand the time and financial constraints that the commitment to full-time homeschooling brings. So saying, I’d like to make a special offer to homeschooling families – a portrait package just for you!
Homeschool Portrait Package: Up to two homeschooled children at a location of your choice in the greater-Vancouver area. Your sitting fee will include one 5×7 print of each child. Within two weeks of your session, your photos will be available for viewing and ordering in an online gallery. A 20% discount will apply toward any print order made within two weeks of this gallery opening.
Cost: $50 (Offer limited to full-time homeschooling families, available through the end of October only. Additional school-age children in the family, $15 each.)
Take a look through my galleries. If you like the style and are interested in getting together let me know. I’d love to mail you a packet of information and discuss some options!
