Last weekend I had the honor of attending Maple’s birthday party. She turned 91, and it was wonderful to see her family surround her so fully. There are some people who endure life, and there are others who leave a legacy. Watching the slideshow of bits of Maple’s life, and then seeing her family continuing to live out her values even in those few hours, was motivating to me to make every moment count. Thank you Mona, for allowing me to meet your mother and the rest of your family. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with you all!

I love it when the online world overflows into real life. Now I know that sounds funny, but here’s the scoop. A while back I met a sweet gal online through the digital scrapbooking community. Last April I was able to meet her in person at a digi-retreat, and then this past week I was able to meet her entire family as they gathered at her house for a photo shoot. What an awesome, full-of-laughter family, I must say. It was a treat, and even though you guys can’t count worth a lick nor blow bubbles *wink wink* the cookies were to die for!!! I had a ball and think we got some absolutely great stuff! So thanks, Dani and your uber-cool family!

Do you ever go into a situation not really knowing what to expect? That happened to me last week. My dad got a call to photograph a dog, something neither of us has ever done before. But we both went and had the most amazing time! This little poodle was adorable, and her owners even more so. I must say – there’s something about the older generation that is missing from mine. They are gracious, thoughtful, and all-together too modest. It was honestly a pleasure to get to know these sweet people. Oh, and their puppy, too!

I’m not much a studio lights kinda gal – I love the natural light and the avoidance of having to create an environment. But lately it seems I’ve been thrown into that full-time so I’m learning it the best I can. Last week I accompanied my father on a few shoots and got to meet these two young men and their dog. (Well okay, their dad too, lol.) And it seems it was quite the week for dogs, but more on that later . . .
These guys were absolutely fabulous, and it was really fun to watch their interaction with each other. The differences in siblings can be rather stark, as I’ve seen in my own house. The same was true for these two, but what a cool way to balance out a family. They’ve got some lucky parents!

While dad was setting up the lights I grabbed them each and got to know them a little bit:

Last weekend we traveled the Cedar Creek Grist Mill and helped make fresh apple cider. Gosh, it was a blast and I think our whole family learned a thing or two about the whole process. It was a beautiful setting, the air was crisp, and the scents were exactly what you dream fall to smell like.
