This morning I spent some time with Isaac and Jessica for an engagement session. It was THE hottest day of the year so far and even blew away the long-standing record for temps. We were all definitely feeling the heat, but hats off to these two. We got some great stuff, and as soon as I quit shooting I’ll catch up on all my editing, lol.
Here’s a sneak peek from the ones I ran through tonight. I love this field, and the sense of anticipation in the picture. Happy planning until your wedding in September, you two! I hope it’s not as hot as today was!

And here’s another at the halfway house. *chuckle*

Thanks, you two! I’ll let you know as soon as the rest are ready.
I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of several different groups in this area – business professionals who meet together on a weekly basis and exchange information, ideas, and challenge one another to grow in their industries. In one of those groups I met Greg, a reverse mortgage specialist, who in turn invited me to meet his amazing family this past Monday.
It was a whizz-bang fast moving shoot, as all these incredible kids have sports teams and organizations they’re involved in and couldn’t miss. (And do an amazing job, from all I hear. Hats off, guys!!!) It was fun to hear about their shoot in the same exact spot, at the same exact tree about five years ago. I hope these new pictures can go side-by-side with the older ones – that’s just cool!
Thanks for such a fun evening! I really had a ball getting to know you all, and I know my dad did as well.

What girl doesn’t love chocolate? Add Mother’s Day into the mix, and you have one happy woman. A few weeks ago I was asked to capture the memory of such a gift for a gal. Her little son (and I’m sure his daddy, too. Kudos, Dad! These are awesome!) gave her this sweet little personalized treat:

Thank you, Angie, for letting me play. THIS is what it’s all about – preserving the memories that make you smile.
Oh my, so many moments to savor from this past weekend with Dave and Dianna and all their friends and family. So many laughs, so many happy tears, so many unforgettables. I’ll be sharing many of them in the next several days, but first check out this little man, the ringbearer.

Here are the beginnings of the day at the bride’s parent’s home where all the girls got ready. They were beautiful, and it was obvious they were all close. Gyna from Utopia Salon and Day Spa did all the hair, and Melissa with Arbonne did all the girls’ makeup.

There’s so much more to share – the guys playing disc golf the morning of, the reception, the music and dancing . . . It was a beautiful day all around! My assistant Lori was a godsend, and helped make the day complete. Thank you, girl!
I have so SO much to share from this past weekend’s wedding. I’ll have a sneak peek tomorrow on the blog here. In the meantime, I had to do some major upgrades to my computer today. My dad has come to my rescue so many times I can’t even begin to count. Thanks to his help and expertise I’m now smoking along with 4g of ram and an extra internal hard drive to hold my photoshop cache. The change is unbelievable!!! For a week I’ve been crashing and burning non-stop and my work as a result has been almost at a standstill. SOOO frustrating, and adding 1500 shots from the weekend to sort through (YIKES!) was just not working, to say the least.
My brother got a Canon 40D today, so tonight we all went out shooting together to help break it in. (Yeah right. I just wanted to touch it. . . I tried not to drool on it. . . . what a sweet camera.) I’m SOOO excited for him and the direction he’ll be headed with it. Can you see him glowing here?

Then the two littlest cousins, Izzy and Fidget, got in on the action. Here they are taking a FLYING leap off the ledge, giggling and screaming the whole way.

And here’s one more, just playing with the light:

I haven’t mentioned my stock photography here in quite a bit, because most nights it’s so late when I add things to the store at SBG that I go straight to bed when I’m done. I just put together Wishing this week:

Some things just communicate magic to me. For an instant, the moment of first seeing them is so surreal that anything seems possible. This past weekend a soaring bird gave me that thrill – that wish of going far, of opening my heart and having the courage to believe that the unbelievable is possible. The way the light caresses a berry in the morning light, the way a daisy dances in the wind so happy and innocent – these moments get me to first believing, then to wishing. There is potential in that unblown dandelion – go make a wish and blow with all your might!
Finding Peace is the other latest project, and I just love how it came together:

Do you ever have moments in which you find yourself searching for a quiet spot? That has been my quest of late – I’ve been drifting and have needed to find that place of peace and serenity once again. Most of the time it is a location that starts my heart back to its source of joy and centeredness. I love the way nature can cause us to stop, take a deep breath, and just revel in its beauty. Each of these photos represents one of those moments to me – when my heart was touched and brought back to peace.
All of my photo collections are available for personal use and scrap-for-hire, so grab them to create a peaceful corner in your home with wall art! I want to print that tree photo and put it on the wall right beside my desk to remind me to breathe deep and pray often:

Enjoy your day! I hope it’s filled with peace.
None of us in this family have been to the doctor since we moved out here two and half years ago. Pretty amazing, if you ask me. In fact, it makes me smile. Because of that fact, we don’t have a doctor here. Last week, though, I visited two clinics – with my camera. Oh gosh, SO fun. I got to see a wonderful facility that I didn’t even know existed less than two miles from our house. And I got to meet three fabulous providers and I can just about guarantee that the next time we need some health care coverage we’ll be headed down to see them. Thanks for letting me squeeze you in between your patient schedule. You all were great!

This is their Washougal clinic right on Evergreen Highway:

And this one is just down the road from us on SE 164th Avenue:

All these and a bunch more just went off to their web designer Dorothy Scott of Premium Websites, so I’ll link up as soon as their new site goes live.
I can’t wait to see it, Dr. King! It was a treat to work with you, your wife and all the rest of your fabulous team.
Thanks to a break in the showers, I was able to finish up a client shoot yesterday afternoon. On the way back from Washougal, we all stopped for a walk along the river. The day was gorgeous and little Fidget had a bunch of ants in his pants. The poor child couldn’t keep still all weekend. We kept telling the boys to run, RUN! They had a ball exploring the path, digging in the gravel, watching some cows and sheep and a water treatment plant. (That last one ranks way up there for little boys, you know.) I enjoyed breathing deep, walking hand-in-hand with my husband, and listening to our chattering daughter. She’s a good thinker, that one, and loves to laugh!

And then my favorite of the day, soaring above. Never forget to look up.

I’ve been watching for you. Honest! But I just found out that a few emails haven’t ever made it through to me for some reason. If you emailed me and haven’t heard a response, please send another copy. I just lowered all my spam settings to see if that helps. Your thoughts and requests are important to me!!! And it’s my goal to respond within 24 hours of hearing from you.
I was out at our local Walmart/HomeDepot/PandaExpress/Payless/
Sonic/Penneys/Lowe’s shopping center the other day, amazed at all the growth and newness. I’m usually a quiet soul, so all this “city” just around the corner from our home was exciting, yes, but I was wishing for a restful spot nearby. And all it took was a simple turning around. I found this, which has been there years. It’s amazing what a little juxtaposition can do to add value! I took a long walk through the daisies and had myself a thoroughly refreshing time!

Aren’t they happy?

And this one. Doesn’t it make you want to wish a great big wish?

I can’t wait to take a few children here for a fun little session.
