There’s a new gallery on my site highlighting these awesome seniors I’ve been able to meet. Go check them out in the FEATURED section and see how amazing they are!!
This evening I spent some time with Mindy. (I do so enjoy working with these seniors – what a treat!) And even more, I love the progression of a shoot and how you see the confidence and comfort of so many gals just blossom before the lens.
I could just dance when I hear mention of something in our planning meeting that sends my creative brain into overdrive. Even in the post-processing tonight that creative brain is still pushing the limits a bit. I am absolute thrilled to death with what I’m seeing as I work through them.
Mindy, you are amazing. THANK you for putting up with my editorial style dreams tonight – you rocked it. All of it! And I can’t wait for you to see your entire gallery. Here are a few teasers for you!

And Carl, you are a dear to wait around for us in the hot sun and then be so willing to take the time to help me search for my missing keys! (Gosh, I’m such a dork sometimes!)
Okay, if it were a client there’s NO way I’d use that term redneck. But this is my littlest boy we’re talking about, who had he been the oldest would have been an only child. He is such a ham, such a character, such a bundle of happy unpredictability that we are constantly in stitches over him. He is SO hard to correct, because even when he’s very, very naughty he’s the happiest boy I’ve ever met.
Get a load of this from this morning, totally unprompted by us. He just crawled up onto the bed and smiled at me. I think I spewed coffee all over my keyboard:

And now the studied profile:

He’s three. At this rate can you imagine our lives at fourteen? (and just in case there’s ANY doubt – those are NOT his real teeth. . . . )
Just wanted to share a few more of Yasi, my senior from Friday evening. What a delight.

Tonight, in the perfect weather that only this area can bring, I was able to spend some time with Yasi, a new senior at Fort. If I had to describe her in two words it would be sweet quietness, for I think she’s a bit camera shy. But we had fun – there is such an elegant ease about her – and her friend Michael was a dream assistant! (Yeah, you really were!!!) He folded up my 40×60 reflector without batting an eye – the same reflector that I usually toss into my van at the end of a shoot in frustration because I can NEVER fold up that thing on location. I’ve watching the videos, I’ve practiced at home but no amount of doing gets it done when I’m out. Michael, on the other hand, had it folded and put in the pouch in under a minute flat, I think. Woohooo! He’s coming with me next shoot!!! (lol, hear that Michael?!)
Here are just a few sneak peeks from our time tonight. I’m hoping to share a few more before the end of the weekend.

Thanks, Yasi! Wish Cassie the best tomorrow!!!
How can a photographer take credit for how beautiful a beautiful girl looks? Audrie – a high school senior at Fort – and I met up tonight despite the tenuous weather and wandered around a block of Vancouver together. I’m so glad we did! What a sweet, genuine gal who oozes confidence without being cocky. And despite the rain she kept a smile, despite the “one sec while I fix the flash” disturbances, she rocked the poses, nailed the expressions and further won my heart.
Audrie, you’re the best. And you picked out a killer umbrella at Walgreens! LOVE it and love your style.

I ordered a new camera a month ago, and ever since I got it it’s been a dream. Everything about it is better than the one I had before it – which, btw, I loved too. So the new became my king daddy and the old became the backup. I’ve been spoiled. But then Saturday happened.
I was with my dad shooting backup at a wedding, when suddenly my dreamy new one stopped working. I frantically turned it off then on again. Then reseated the battery. Then reset all my custom functions back to factory default but nothing fixed it. It died right there in my hands at the front end of the reception. Wahhhh!! I pulled out the old faithful and finished the day, half distracted about my loss. It’s amazing how fast I fell in love.
This morning I called Canon, and they confirmed it’s fatality. It needs to be repaired. But Canon is so wonderful – they understand the whole love at first sight thing, and how I just can’t be without it, so they recommended I contact the retailer and just exchange it for a new one – it will be much faster. Suh-weeeet! Can I cry and dance at the same time? The new *dead* camera is shipped off today for it’s funeral, and hopefully I’ll have another new one within the week. I miss it already. I’m a spoiled gal, aren’t I?
And what is it that these two things have in common?

Well, normal people say absolutely nothing but my church thinks otherwise! This past Sunday afternoon was our annual liquid nitrogen ice cream social. The men poured the nitrogen into mixtures of milk, eggs and sugar, stirred it up as it froze and let us all enjoy the sweet, creamy treat. And this year, to make it extra fun, they added a bit of theatrics . . . (please cue theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey)

Ya’ll need to come next year! Really!!!
And here’s a little bugger playing while he waited for his share. What a doll.

Things have been so fabulously busy here that it seems like ages ago that I took these portraits for Timberline Physical Therapy. These two doctors are amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all their equipment, hearing about their wild success this first year of their business, and watching them interact with their patients every now and again during our shoot. I was honestly so impressed.

Zane, your business rocks. Seriously. You’ve put together an incredible thing and I’m so excited for you in where it’s headed. And I can’t wait to see the new website Dotty is putting together for you!
Oh man, did the kids have an adventure today! I drove them to the end of a dead-end street, handed them each a paper cup and said, “Go discover.” Within minutes their cheeks were full and their fingers stained with the juice of dozens of wild blackberries. I remember those hot summer days as a kid, and how wonderful those juicy berries tasted. We ended up bringing home a huge bag a berries with a few grasshoppers, spiders and bugs mingled in. A quick rinse after dinner and we had the best dessert ever!

Don’t you love how pictures can tell a story so well?! What’s your story for the day? Did you capture it? I challenge you to grab a camera this weekend and use it to remember a story or two. I can guarantee you’ll be glad you did!
(These pictures will be going into Studio Amy later this evening as a stock set. I’d love for you to nap a set as a way to tell about a berry-picking memory you might have!)
